Faye & Austin
I hate to play favorites… but could you blame me lol! Faye & Austin are such a great couple! They are fun, excited to be in love, their chemistry is beautiful, and photographing them was a pleasure. They wanted photos taken where they first met at Saigon Blonde, which is a fun modern tiki bar in downtown St Petersburg’s, FL (highly recommend, I love this atmosphere so much!). We also had drinks while we were here and they were excellent.. I am a big craft cocktail girlie so it made the day a little more fun lol! When I began taking photos I instantly knew I wouldn’t have to direct them too much since their energy with one another is so pure of heart. You can tell just being around these two how in love they are and how excited they are to start this new chapter together…. After we left the bar… we walked around downtown a bit to take a few more city vibe photos and then went to one of their favorite beaches on Treasure Island .. it was magical.. I don’t think we could have had a better day! I was so excited to share these photos… once again having a couple who allows me to be creative with their vision is always appreciated. I have been expanding my business in Florida recently and look forward to capturing more beachy memories in the near future…….
Lienna & Evan
Lienna & Evan Detroit Engagement Portraits
A couple who loves Detroit as much as I do! Yes please! I had THE best time with Lienna & Evan. We went all over the city to capture these beautiful photos. They allowed me to be creative… which always makes for a fun session. I really enjoyed capturing their love. They wanted their photos to really highlight being in the city, but also have that timeless vibe which I think we captured well. Our session went into the evening when light was scarce, but there is something magical about Detroit at night. The city lights give that urban vibe that you can’t really get anywhere else and if you appreciate the city like we do… it was perfect. A few weeks after our session Lienna & Evan asked me if I would capture their wedding day in 2024! I was so flattered and of course said YES! I can not believe that I am booking years in advance for photography. This is a dream of mine that has finally came to fruition. It humbles me to think about the years of hard work that I put into growing this small business. I think about all of my past and future clients who have believed in me and see my work as an art form. It really means the world to me and Lienna & Evan are two of those amazing people. Lienna & Evan I am looking forward to photographing your wedding day ! Thank you for trusting me! Here we come Piquette!
Agustina & Christian
Agustina & Christian Wedding | Detroit Wedding | Fall Wedding | Michigan Wedding
Agustina & Christian were married on October 8th, 2022 surrounded by friends and family. Their love is beautiful and they are so intertwined. Photographing them was so natural! It was a pleasure being there to witness their commitment to one another and to capture these sweet memories. Unfortunately, not all of Agustina’s friends and family could attend because most of them live in Argentina where Agustina is from. I am so happy to write this blog for her to share with them so they can get a feel for what the day was like and to see how happy she is with Christian. When her and I spoke about the day I instantly knew the vision she had. She liked my moody take on the traditional romantic vibe, which you can see in the gallery of photographs. We connected on this and I knew I could make this happen for her. That is one thing that I think sets me a part from other photographers, my versatility. I like getting a good understanding of what my clients visions are to make sure I deliver and I think we nailed her vibe/vision. Christian is one of the sweetest! While his bride was coming down the aisle, he walked up and met her to help her down the long path. It was so genuine and at that moment you saw his sense of the love and care he has for her. It was memorable. After the ceremony, I took them to one of my new favorite places, Douglas Evans Nature Preserve to take their intimate photos. It was the perfect fall setting. I was able to encapsulate all of the fall colors, warmer tones, and slight breeze. Once we wrapped up, we headed to the reception location for a beautiful candle lit dinner. Agustina and Christian did a wonderful job creating this space for their guests. The simplicity was magic and their desserts were amazing! I wish them a lifetime of happiness and love! So happy to share this with you all, this wedding was a fairytale.
Taylor & Anthony
Taylor & Anthony Engagement Session
Detroit, Michigan
2022
Have you ever heard of the song by Lord Huron “Meet me in the Woods”? It was the first thing that came to mind after talking to Taylor about her vision for her engagement and wedding photos. I am actually listening to the song on repeat as I type this blog for you all. You know.. it just gives me the feeling to channel exactly what I want to share. I have known Taylor and her family for roughly 17 years, which is so wild to think about.. Time really does fly by doesn’t it? I think back about those times and just get those nostalgic feelings of being young and care free.
Taylor and Anthony remind me of that nostalgic feeling…. Their aesthetic blends well with my vision for photography. It was a perfect match in my eyes. I knew these photos were going to be beyond epic. The tones are warm, moody, sunny, woodsy, pure, and magical. Seeing them through my lens in this field of dreams was enchanting.
As you look through these photos, you can see their love, connection, and intertwined energy with one another. I feel so lucky they allowed me to be the one to capture them perfectly. To say that I am excited for their wedding next year is an understatement. Of course their venue is in the middle of the pines north of Detroit, with the most perfect barn setting, amazing fresh air, and room for their dog Ted, family, and friends to roam around into the night. My creative vision for the day is already in the works.
Please enjoy looking through these photos, feel the freedom, the love, imagine the air blowing through your hair, and the sun shining on your face.
Taylor and Anthony….
Thank you
Kate & Joe
Kate & Joe Michigan Wedding
Ever just get the feeling that something is the right fit? That’s exactly how I felt when Kate and I first connected about photographing her wedding. Even before I spoke to her on the phone she felt like a friend. Once we were able to have a phone conversation, we both were like yes.. this is the right fit. I love how organic connections happen in life. It was pure magic spending the day with Kate & Joe. They are the kind of people who have a calm energy that was felt throughout the whole day, are so pure and down to earth, and were just a joy to photograph. They trusted me completely, allowed me to be creative and did not hesitate to get into the bush. As most of you know, and for those you who don’t.. if you ever take photos with me, nine times out of ten I will have you in some sort of bush/field somewhere capturing that field of dreams magic I love so much! The day of the wedding started in the early afternoon, perfect overcast, not too hot, with a slight breeze. Literally perfection. I look back on these photos and can see the purity of their love for one another. I’m telling you, these people are the real deal. Their friends and family had so many nice things to say about the both of them through out the day , and also during their speeches. From Joe being Kate’s perfect match, to him being unbeatable at basically any XBOX game, to Kate being so loved by Joe’s late grandfather, and to her being an incredible friend to her college tribe, really highlighted my feelings for them as well. It’s why I do what I do, and I know I say that in every post, but its true! What an honor it was to be there photographing all of this love that surrounded them. Thank you Kate and Joe for picking me and trusting me. I look forward to working with you again as your life expands. Cheers!
Lenny
Lenny - Detroit Family Portraits
I can’t help but smile when I see this boy! He has the most contagious smile, and is just a beautiful baby. I was so excited to take photos of him and his parents. Last winter I actually took their maternity photos . They are still some of my favorite photos I’ve taken, the aesthetics are just right. I appreciate them for allowing me to be creative with my photography style. I love being on life journeys with families, capturing memories for them as they grow. This is why I love being a photographer. Building relationships with different families who trust me to capture a small moment in time that can be shared with family and friends for a lifetime. Knowing that his parents will look back at these photos in 20 years makes me smile. Happy to know you Lenny!
Anneke & Jason
Micro Wedding, Clarkston MI
May 18th 2022, I got an email from a close family friend asking if I was available to photograph a wedding for her brother who was coming into town with his bride-to-be from Indonesia. I love photographing micro weddings, and knew it was going to be beautiful. Leading up to the wedding day I was in contact with the bride Anneke and groom Jason, via email. We chatted back and forth about the day and what type of photos they were looking for. It was such a pleasure getting to know them. The wedding day came and it was absolutely perfect. These photos turned out so amazing. The landscapes were ideal, Anneke and Jason looked stunning and the love was in the air. The wedding took place at the Troy Court House in Troy, MI, where Anneke and Jason exchanged vows with close family. The reception dinner immediately followed at Jason’s family’s property in Clarkston, MI. This property was beyond ideal for photographs. Talk about the perfect colors of green, magical lighting, and amazing peeks of sun. After the wedding I reached out to them to get a little background on their story because I felt it was necessary to share, so here it is!
Anneke and Jason met in late 2019 right before the pandemic at an event that Jason was hosting. Jason handles media for Google in Indonesia, and invited CNBC Indonesia to join the event. Little did he know they would send their smartest most beautiful anchor, Anneke! They became official in early 2020. During the pandemic they were able to get to know one another very well. On February 26th 2022, Jason proposed at a beach resort in the Gili Trawangan islands which is off the coast of Lombok, Indonesia. After their engagement Jason spoke to Anneke’s parents at their Sangjit ceremony, which is a traditional Chinese ceremony to ask the bride’s families permission to marry. Jason and Anneke also had a traditional Chinese marriage proposal on May 29th 2022, and are having three weddings to follow. Their first wedding was this one in Michigan, their second is being held in Jakarta’s Church on July 17th 2022 ( holy matrimony), followed by Teapai Chinese traditional ceremony and dinner. Their third event will be their big reception in Bali which will be held on March 4th 2023. So many family and friends will be coming in from all over the world to join them to celebrate their beautiful commitment.
It was such an amazing experience to be a part of this beautiful love story, and being able to document part of it was an honor. I look forward to staying in touch with Anneke and Jason and wish them a lifetime of happiness and endless love. They are truly a special couple and you can tell how much they love one another in these photos. Cheers!
Shelby
I have to be honest… studio photography is very new to me. As most of you know my photos are primarily taken outside in a field somewhere. If you have ever taken photos with me .. I am usually trying to convince you to stand in a bush or in tall grass to get that one shot! Thanks for going with the flow guys ha! Last winter I started using different studio spaces to help accommodate clients who wanted photos but did not want to be out in the cold and I can’t blame them! I have experimented with a few spaces and ended up really liking it! Its a new way of being creative for me .. its worth it.. this is why I do this anyway.. So moving on to the beauty in this post. Shelby has been in my life since high school.. its really cool seeing long time friends creating life. Her and her husband Marc are two of the sweetest people I know. They are going to make some pretty rad parents. I was so excited to photograph Shelby and capture her during this amazing moment in her life.. We had such a fun morning creating little areas with plants and backdrops.. using the roof for a more urban feel and also experimenting with a really cool filter. Shelby allowed me to be creative and just do what felt right for this shoot, and I have to say I am so happy with how these turned out. This session makes me want to explore more with studio photography and expand my portfolio! Maybe one day Ill have my own studio space ;)
Jealene & Martel
Talk about love! I first met Jealene at a mutual friends wedding shower back in 2018. We sat next to one another and while speaking to her I could tell she had the most caring and loving energy. Some time went by and she reached out to let me know of the birth of her and Martel’s beautiful son Daxton and asked me to take some newborn photos of him. I was also able to take Jealene and Martel’s engagement photos, multiple family sessions of just the three of them as well as her entire family! They are all such a joy to be around and honestly they just feel like family. Jealene and Martel had to postpone their wedding with family and friends due to covid like many other couples, but made up for it on April 1st 2022. I was able to capture their day, and give them sweet memories to look back on. I loved being able to witness their love surrounded by so many family and friends. They are a fun loving couple who laugh, look at each other with intent and will continue to grow and raise a beautiful family. They are the kind that do not need to be wished good luck in marriage because you can just tell they do the work and are going to be very successful at it! Cheers!
Emily & Jeremy
I met Emily and Jeremy back in college. Well, the funny thing is that I actually met Emily in an airport on our way to Poland for a study abroad program.. and lets just say, we were both glad we had one another on that trip. It was my second time being in Europe and my first time being there without family, so her and I really had a good time haha! CHEERS! Throughout the trip Emily was talking about this guy named Jeremy… I mean it was cute to say the least… then some time passed and these two ended up getting married! Still one of the funnest weddings I’ve ever been to. Last fall she reached out wanting some updated photos for their home. I was so excited to take these! I am still obsessing over the fall colors and just the adorable way they look at each other. It’s something extra special.
Shelby & Brad
Back in October 2021, I was given the privilege to photograph this colorful wedding in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. I have been taking photos of the grooms family for many years.. so many years that I even took his senior portraits, multiple family portraits and also newborn photos of Shelby & Brads beautiful son. Time sure does fly. When they asked me to photograph their wedding I was so excited! Not only to capture amazing photos during a beautiful fall season, but continuing to capture moments in Shelby & Brads life is why I do what I do. These clients always give me my creative freedom to be my artistic self and capture love in the tiny moments. Can’t wait for our next session together!
Gypsa & Kyle
Taken back in February before my blog, but too good not to share. Firstly, I need to mention what a beautiful couple Gypsa & Kyle are! We strolled the city and were able to take a few photos inside of Siren Hotel, the Guardian Building, a local favorite called ROCCOS… ( by the way if you haven’t been to Roccos you are missing out).. and our last stop was their beautiful home. I was able to capture these photos with ease. This was a good day and a good memory capturing love and life in the making.
Erina
I had such a nice time with sweet Erina & her family. Her room was the perfect pink color with cute stars on the wall for her to gaze into. I really enjoy photographing babies, capturing little moments of them in their first few weeks is so special! I also was obsessed with her kitty brother who was there protecting her the whole time! How cute is that! Good boy! Grandma also stopped by to be a part of this special afternoon. I really enjoyed this session, and loved how these photos turned out.
Ross & Alexa
Micro-Wedding- April 21st - Holly, Michigan
The year was 2007 when these love birds first met. Ross & Alexa dated in high school, took a break due to Alexa moving across the country for college and rekindled their love when she moved back to her hometown a few years later. I have a soft spot for their love story because they are dear friends of mine. When they asked me to photograph their elopement I was so excited! The Historic Holly Hotel in Holly, Michigan has an antique flare that worked well with their Boho-Chic vibe. The lace dress, bolo tie, and cowboy boots really tied in well together. The day started off a little rainy, but ended with beautiful sunshine. Ross & Alexa were surrounded by their closest family when making their commitment to one another. I was honored to be apart of this intimate affair. The love was felt and these two will continue to complement one another for years to come.
